Join me for a delightful sketching experience in the heart of picturesque Leiden! This city is bursting with inspiring scenes waiting to be captured on paper. If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the visual treats, especially if you're just starting out, don't worry. You'll soon discover how exciting and fun sketching on location can be. Imagine yourself arriving and immediately feeling inspired, confident, and ready to sketch - this is exactly what I experience every time I sketch outdoors, and I'd love to help you feel the same!
In this workshop, I'll guide you on how to dive into sketching with ease and confidence. We'll explore how to begin your sketches, decide what to include or leave out, create strong and engaging compositions, and sketch efficiently on location. You'll also learn to bring your sketches to life with colors and captivating details.
We'll kick things off with a playful warm-up exercise to loosen up and boost your sketching speed. After that, I'll lead you step-by-step through the process of building your sketch, ensuring you'll end up with a lovely result you can proudly show off.
And there's even more to look forward to! Throughout the workshop, I'll be sharing my favorite tips and creative tricks to help you sharpen your skills and spark your artistic imagination.

“Op de heetste dag van het jaar in Rotterdam een inspirerende workshop Urban sketching gevolgd. Met een clubje van 8 schetsers in de schaduw van de Markthal lekker zitten tekenen en waterverven. Julia gaf veel bruikbare en voor mij zelfs life changing tips, waarmee het lukte om snel en losjes te werken en ook datgene op mijn tekening te krijgen wat ik van plan was; meestal kom ik in ruimtenood en blijkt mijn papier te klein. Het lukte nu zelfs om twee tekeningen te maken in de tijd waarin ik er normaal niet eens een af krijg. Ik kan deze workshop dan ook van harte aanraden, zeker als je op zoek bent naar een lossere stijl en snellere manier van werken.!“

Gelukkig was het droog en redelijk zonnig voor de buitenles in het mooie Bergschenhoek.
Julia gaf ons deskundig en geduldig🙂 aanwijzingen en tips wat betreft matriaalgebruik, onderwerpen, perspectief, kleurgebruik enz.
We waren met een kleine groep en dus was er voldoende aandscht voor iedereen.

Ze heeft zelfs een lijst naar me gemaild om te zorgen dat ik de juiste materialen kon kopen! Dat ze goed is blijkt wel uit het feit dat de cursisten uit hele land afreizen naar haar!”

We learned not to be afraid of just sitting on the sidewalk in front of the Markhal, just doe out thing.
