NEW YOUTUBE TUTORIAL: HOW TO DRAW A COMPLICATED COLUMN
As a beginning artist, you probably often see objects around you that you would like to draw, but you have no idea where to start. So, a few weeks ago, I got a question about how to draw a complicated column like this.
And I immediately thought that this might become a nice and useful Youtube video. No sooner said than done, here is a short step-by-step tutorial that is great for beginning artists, especially those who love urban sketching as much as I do.
So, in this video, you will learn how to draw an ornamented column with a pencil and how to add shadows to it. Enjoy watching and make sure to sketch along!

Hi Julia - This was a really fun tutorial. I really like this format - 10 minutes is a great length to get through during my lunch break and still leaves time for me to play with the sketch. As you can see, I am still following your advice of creating a thumbnail for my sketches!
Perhaps you do one of bicycles leaning against a wall. I struggle with bicycles generally and it gets worse trying to put the wheels into perspective.
BTW this is the first time I have seen you fail to get a straight line. 😋
Looking forward to your next post.
